Where’s Nando?

Where’s Nando?

So, the first day in Bangkok proved to be a great one! Just being here with this precious family is so sweet to me… Baby Raina….just loves to be snuggled …Adley…his hair is now light brown and he has such a sweet shy demeanor…Niah..sitting next to me now is my special buddy…the hug she gave me when she first saw me will never be forgotten…we are the only ones awake this morning…Aiden..growing up and becoming a little lady…sweet Beth who tries to love it here…and Brett with his same fun sarcasm and sense of humor.. Yes…this is a very special family…the kids are so well behaved and are are joy to be with…
So day 1…the kids left for school and I went and hung out with Beth in their bedroom while she fed Raina..Brett soon joined us and we just visited… I think these are the sweetest times..we just talk and enjoy catching up….I am sure Brett would have loved for me to go back to my room…haha..but us girls needed this early morning chat time! Then I took Raina into my room hoping they could go back to sleep….but it didn’t happen…we moved our conversations downstairs over a cup of coffee and before we knew it….it was 10:00…
It is really sad to me that most friends and families, because of the way we live, get very few of these moments together. I think the American way of living limits this…we all have our own houses…our own rooms…and only visit under a short time span…other cultures all live together…love together…and help together…I like it…I could do it..I’m just saying….
So anyway…time to get ready and hit the streets! Brett had a meeting and Beth and I and Raina were headed to the grocery store..now their grocery stores are in the malls here along with the banks and anything else you would like to shop for…Honduras is that way too..you can go to the mall and take care of everything! At home, we have to go to several places to get our banking, grocery shopping, and other stuff done….makes no sense!
So we had a fantastic Thai lunch….bought groceries.. exchanged my money..and headed home to see the kids get off the bus(van). Imagine getting like 10 bags of groceries and Raina in a little taxi… much like the ones in Honduras…EXCEPT…the driver…no mam…he was nothing like Nando (our sweet, humble, smiling, helpful, awesome driver in Honduras…for those of you who haven’t been)…the guy didn’t speak… didn’t smile…and did not help…haha… Not that we needed him….we are 2 perfectly capable women with a 3 week old baby….and 10 bags of groceries!
Oh well…everyone else we came in contact with was very friendly…it is kind of weird when they like bow to you…no…it’s not just in the movies…they really do it!
We ended the evening playing wii, watching a movie and eating popcorn… I crashed at 8:30 and was wide awake at 5 this morning….precious moments with a precious family! I am blessed.
