The mayor of El Progreso rocks!

So we woke up to a rainy day in Honduras…which is kind of nice…not so hot but not a good day to run around Mt Olivos either!!  So we went to Copprome to visit and show Riley around and , of course, get lots of hugs and kisses….I mean where can you go and get 36 hearts who really LOVE to see you show up….I keep thinking they are going to just get used to me coming…but I sure hope not….As excited as I am just driving down the driveway to Copprome…it is nothing compared to how my heart feels as they all run up with outstretched hands and hug and kiss me like I am necessary to them….Is this how Jesus feels when we cry out to him and stretch out our hands and express how much we need Him?  I would think so…Need…what a funny word…we spend our lives learning to not need anyone….then we realize that we were created to need..to need our father who created us…to need our family who He created to cared for us whether they are blood or not…relationships…we all NEED relationships…so enjoy them!                                                       So today…… we formed a new relationship…who would ever imagine that we would get to know the mayor of El Progreso, Honduras better than the mayor of Franklin or Nashville, TN? Only God…He knew…and someone sent photographers and the newspaper too…..here we were trying hard to understand the spanish…and Lola and Sister Teresita                                                                            whispering to us trying to help us understand what he was saying…and flashes going off all over the room…it was hilarious…I was trying to focus on what he was saying and  what Sister Teresita was telling me…it was crazy…but over all our meeting today was fantastic…we went in not really knowing what to expect…we all kind of thought we would get a quick 5 minutes and then we would be dismissed…but that is not at all how it happened!  He gave us an hour of his time answering all of our questions and telling us that we could partner with he and his staff using his environmnetal engineer and his architect to make sure that the houses we build will be the most efficient and sturdy that they can be!!  He has promised us that he will financially partner with us to build this village in 2012!  He is planning to donate at least one third of the expenses to see it through!  We had heard rumors that he might do this…but we never believed it until today!! I mean, it is election year in 2012…but there is so much poverty in this city that he could spend the money so many different places….for him to find favor with us can only be God….so we are thanking Him tonight for this new relationship!                                                                                                                                                                                                              I also was able to see Gabriel tonight and will spend all day tomorrow with him!  Gaby and I are just sitting here happy…trying not to think about me leaving on Sunday, but instead thinking about how awesome it will be when she comes to live with us next December forever!!!!  Yes…2012 will be a fantastic year…won’t you join us? We need you…Honduras needs you…The Kingdom needs you!!!!
