The calm after the Puckett’s storm…

The calm after the Puckett’s storm…

Well…we had our first fundraiser for Hearts2honduras this past Monday night.  After looking at the budget for our mission trips this summer, with airfare skyrocketing…we were short the funds to really complete the projects we felt like God was encouraging us to do!! So…I made a phone call to a dear friend of mine who owns the coolest little restaurant in Franklin, TN…Puckett’s…Not only is it a restaurant….but is has a stage and lots of famous people have performed there.  It is quaint, country and exactly what you would think of when you mention Nashville entertainment.  So Andy gave me a date of June 13th…2 weeks away…awesome!! I need to plan a fundraiser and fill it up (100 people) in just 2 short weeks…not to mention Ty and I were leaving for Honduras a few days later to start the well project.
Thank the Lord for family and friends.  My niece jumped on the internet and began to make the initial contacts and I started calling people. My sweet friends Mark and Kimberly (our internet guru’s!!) set up online ticket sales…and the ball was rolling!!
I wanted it to be sweet and intimate, but I also wanted everyone to have a blast!! My sweet dad, Leon Martin (not biological..but has been my dad for 20 years in every sense of the word) offered to call some of his legendary friends and see if he could put a show together!! I was so excited!! The Solomon’s offered to manage and MC the show and other friends, Rebecca, Annette and my sweet daughter Mandi jumped on board to make sure this would be a success!
Well, not only was it a success..we surpassed the amount we were praying to raise and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time! I must say that I loved every second of that night…As I looked out over the audience, my friends and family seemed to have huge smiles on their faces and made me feel like everything was on track.  My brother spoke about the people of Honduras and all of their needs and put everything into perspective.  We showed a slide show of pictures we had taken and the whole night turned out to be magical.  I don’t think it was “just another fundraiser”.  I think it was truly a room full of huge hearts ready to change the world!! Thank you to everyone who was a part of this sweet night…..and may God continue to bless you as you bless others!!
