30 Jun Team #2…our last full day…
Today was full of laughter, joy, pain and tears…..laughter and joy from just enjoying each other’s company…pain from a couple of Olivos people with wounds, scabies, and infections…joy from all of us as we looked at all we had accomplished this week…we basically worked on 5 homes…tking them all to the next level ……tears as we had to say goodbye to brothers and sisters in Christ….. It never ceases to amaze me how the week starts out so slow…and then just flies by…we get in the swing of the heat and the work and it all just seems to go by so quickly…then the last day arrives and we are not ready to say goodbye….We were all packing up and playing loudly with the kids and even finishing up some last minute wound cleansing and washing….when all of a sudden Tino and all the men, women and children in the village come into the community center….they gather around us and Tino begins with tears in his eyes to thank God for us….again….he sets the example…of humbleness.. .thankfullness and spirit filled love that just seeps out of him…we come to help others…we leave with a heart so full of joy and love that it is hard to keep it quiet…I know exactly what everyone who is here is feeling tonight…I know when they get home they are going to want to tell their loved ones exactly how they felt while they were here…how changed they are…how excited they are that they could make a difference….sometimes we just can’t talk enough about it…people start rolling their eyes because it is hard to imagine it all without coming to experience it yourself… the feelings are unexplainable…but they are real…and they are tender yet joyous… Then off to Copprome to do our last VBS and say goodbye to the kids there….Another e motional roller coaster as we tell them we will be back…The kids are used to people saying that…but how truthful is that statement? They aren’t sure…until the next time they see your face…then the trust begins to grow…they start to realize you do care…you will truly make a difference in their lives….It is all about relationship…yes the money helps…but the relationship is the most important piece…Jesus said it…Love your neighbor as yourself….we have done lots of loving this past week!! I can hardly wait to come back and do it all over again!!! Join one of our mission teams…YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!
