Sand and tears

Sand and tears

We had a great  day today winding down the week with a beach trip! Lots of laughs and just enjoying each other..some of us had a fresh seafood lunch and a Honduran cabana to sit under!  It was a perfect end to a perfect week!  We then came back to the hotel to shower and head to the orphanage for our final night of pizza and a birthday party celebrating August and September birthdays!!   It was a sweet night..the kids performed a couple of precious dances and then gave us all sweet cards they  made!  Tears were shed and lots of promises made to return…lots of families wanted to hide some kids in their suitcases…….so now what?                                                                                                                                                We have brought 3 teams to Honduras this summer and have made some pretty major advances…..built a well…put in a water filtration system…painted the outside of the orphanage…painted murals on the outside walls…rebuilt the chicken house and fence…purchased chickens…paid electric bills…paid medical bills…bought lots of food…played lots of football/soccer…..bought lots of clothing, shoes and back packs for the kids…..What next?                                                                                                                      Bring more workers….buy more food…find more ways to save money and raise money for Copprome and Mt Olivos….these people are so grateful…so precious….and so needy..                                      ..but so full of love and hope…helping them makes us better people…why?…maybe because making a difference in the lives of the poor and in the lives of orphans is what we were created to do?….Maybe that is why we feel so happy when we are serving here…and why we are so sad when we leave…maybe we are finally doing what God  created us to do….I’m not sure…but  I am sure that it feels so right!!                                                              Thank you to all of you who came and served this summer…or who helped us financially serve…or who prayed for all of us who were serving…whatever way you were a part of  hearts2honduras missions 2011…thank you so much…from the bottom of my heart…..you are loved and appreciated more than you will ever know!
