08 Aug Our last day….SUCCESS!!!!
We were all a little somber at breakfast this morning as we were thinking about our last day here….so many mixed emotions…lots of people in our group bonding with Olivos people and Copprome….perfect….loving people who need material things to survive…and others who need love and attention…….. So we were off to Olivos to see if we could get more families into their homes!!! We tied rebar…..and I was BEGGING Tino to let us pour the floor in a house that was ready….so finally Ty talked him into it…you see Pharoah (the contractor in charge) was not there today…so they were worried about pouring it without him…but Ty can be VERY pursuasive…I kept saying por favor Tino..he just looked at me and shook his head probably thinking…why do you think this is fun?…I don’t know…but I think it is the team effort part that I love…is it hard and hot…Oh yeah…but being hard and hot together with a group of 30 is actually fun…????Oh well…I guess God knew how much Ty, Shelton and I would LOVE THIS LIFE!!!! So after pouring the floor, having lunch and cleaning up…we were done for the week… Then came the hard part…saying goodbye…sweet Tino spoke to us and said thank you for being here…He thanked God for us…with tears in his eyes..he told us goodbye and said you will always be welome to return…..lots of tears were shed…but lots of promises to return…..then back to the hotel to shower and prepare for dinner and Copprome! So our final night’s dinner was POWER CHICKEN!!! Our favorite seafood and chicken/steak restaurant! It was amazing the shrimp is the best I have ever eaten….The owner/manager came out and presented Ty with a power chicken tshirt…it was so funny! He put it on immediately and pranced around with his arms up in the ‘show your muscles’ kind of form!! Then we were off to Copprome to do our final VBS and our goodbyes….the kids were so excited when we arrived…they were chanting before we got there…AND a few of them were already sad and teary that is was our last night….so ….is it worth the 7 nights of fun to have the 1 night of tears….ABSOLUTELY!!!!…. and I believe every kid at Copprome and every member of our teams would agree…YES IT IS WORTH IT!!!! BUT…it is still sad to see the tears…I walk around saying seis semanas….which means I will be back in 6 weeks…every time a tear pops into my eyes I say seis semanas…not sure if I am reassuring me or them…either way it works!!!…oh….I love it here….but am very excited to go home and love on my grandbaby!!!! If you have always wanted to go on a mission trip…please sign up for summer of 2013….I promise…you will not be disappointed…. The people here are totally worth having a relationship with….like Ty said tonight in our final devotion….they are family…and we LOVE OUR FAMILIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
