Monday in Honduras!

Monday in Honduras!

Part of our team worked at Olivos this morning and the others went to Copprome to finish the woodwork varnishing…at lunch we all came together to eat and do VBS at Olivos….
Nikki and Jessica taught about loving your enemies…tough lesson for a sweet group…
Miriam, Baby Rhonda’s mom, came over after lunch and invited me, Shelton, Ty and Leo to come to their house for a birthday celebration for her!  Her first birthday was May 18th but they wanted to wait for me to celebrate….picture this…a family who lives in a cardboard style house (only because we haven’t build their house yet) …has gone into town…bought a birthday cake….and invited us to share it with them…such a SPECIAL time for us…they put  chairs outside for us to sit in..put a little stool out with a table cloth on it for the cake…we sang Happy Birthday in English and they sang after in Spanish….Baby Rhonda sat in my lap and just smiled…she had no idea why we were all there…but she was loving the cookies I was feeding her and the frosting her mom was putting all over her face!!!
This is just another example of why we call the Olivos and Copprome communities family…they include us in their celebrations and make us feel a part of their happy moments…
We then went to Copprome to do VBS there…and we introduced 2 new families into our sponsorship program! The bonds these families make with their sponsor kids are amazing…the connection is so strong…a child connects with a family they have never met…..it is as if they are long lost relatives…hmmmmm…maybe that is exactly what they are……
sweet day….Ty ended our day with a devo challenging us to act on the things God is calling us to do…don’t just talk about it….do it!!!
Tomorrow is always a tough one…saying goodbye…but I believe most of these sweet families will be back…they have bonded with each other and with the people of Honduras this week….people from 5 states came together…most not knowing each other…and served…we will leave Honduras as brothers and sisters in Christ….same heart…same future….same eternity….
