Elephants and Snow in Bangkok!

Elephants and Snow in Bangkok!

So…day 2 in Bangkok proved to be a day of memories!! I suggested we go somewhere on Saturday that the kids would be really excited about and had either never done….or would not do very often….I have to tell you that when my kids were young…amusement parks were one of our favorite family outings….yes, we had season tickets to Opryland and we always searched for amusement parks and adventure rides wherever we vacationed!! Both of my kids are VERY adventurous!! So I was really thrilled when they suggested an amusement park called Dream World!! Even at almost 51….I get excited about a day of rides and smiles!!  So off we go…1 hour away….Aiden was the only one who had been there on a school field trip and was thrilled to go back.
We get to the gates and it reminds me of Disney Land….Beautiful bridges to get there…lots of animated decorations and an entrance filled with excited families!! Thank the Lord Brett knows some Thai…other than the name…nothing at the entrance was in English!! Brett talked us through it and we are ready to play! It was hot and the sun was bright…the kids were squinting…so our first purchase, other than our tickets, was sunglasses!! They were so cute picking them out…then off we go to eat and ride rides!! Aiden and Adley were the brave souls…although Adley was too short for many of the rides he wanted to ride, he and Aiden were pretty bold…Niah was a little more reserved about the type of rides she wanted to ride, which surprised me…but she really enjoyed the ones that she chose!
As we were walking through the first long walkway…..all of the sudden…I see a huge elephant with a seat on his back!! Oh my…I was so excited!! Riding an elephant was something I HAD TO DO!!! All 3 of the kids wanted to ride with me so we were determined to do it!! I felt like I was in South Africa (like Bachelorette…I’m not gonna lie…I have wanted to do it since I saw it happen on that show…I know…don’t judge me..I do watch that show!) It was so crazy…I could not believe that we were REALLY riding an elephant…we just giggled and rode…then the elephant screamed and made a pit stop to take care of his business…Niah yelled gross and we just laughed even harder!!
The other crazy thing we experienced there was a Snow world…it is a building that you go in…take off your shoes…put on their rubber boots and a coat…we were really cute in our coats that just hit below the shorts….naked legs and boots…sledding!! It was awesome……but freezing….Brett and I kept cracking up at the kids as they giggled and rode the rubber sleds down the hill….we rode them too but we were freezing and our fingers were numb!! No gloves….no hats…naked legs playing in the ice and snow…another experience I will never forget!!!
This was definitely a great day…we were exhausted when we got back home…driving through the city of Bangkok at night…it was beautiful…full of people, life, lots of traffic and lots of open air markets…. It was a tiring but fun day!! The kids crashed and we stayed up and watched Good Will Hunting…then crashed…if the movie hadn’t been so good…I would never have made it through it!
Now it is Sunday….Raina is conjested and coughing so Beth and I stayed home to keep her…. and Brett has gone to take the kids to Thai church…we are just relaxing and hanging in today!! Oh…we just ordered McDonalds delivery for lunch…how funny is that?? Blessings to you all!!
