Day 6..Shelton’s Birthday…what a fun day!!

Day 6..Shelton’s Birthday…what a fun day!!

So we began the day as usual , except when we walked into the restaurant…there were  Happy Birthday signs all over the door for Shelton…Some of the teenage girls on the trip had made the signs and necklaces that said 24 on them!  They made Shelton wear them during breakfast…It was a fun way to start the day!!!!. We had a great breakfast at the hotel and then off to Olivos to work..                                                                              We were hoping to pour the concrete floors in a couple of homes..you see that is the last step before the families can move in..but the floors were not leveled yet and the wood fittings were being cut…so we got all the rebar done and will pour floors tomorrow! (if we do not get rained out..for those of you wondering..no sign of a tropical storm here!)   Then we came back to the hotel and showered before going to the souvenir store….lots of native items were purchased!!  Then we were off to Copprome!  Several people wanted to become family    sponsors and watching  them tell the kids that they wanted them to be a part of their American family was so sweet!  There were lots of smiles at Copprome today!!                                                                                                                                 AND ALL THE WHILE….LEO, LOLA, MARTZINA (Henry’s mom which is Lola’ s sister) along with ABUELA were planning a huge surprise birthday party for Shelton! They rented tables, chairs made homemade salsa, frijoles, tortillas, grilled steak, sausage and a huge chocolate birthday cake!!!  They did this for 35 people!! We asked him to stop and get some ice so we could get there and go in through the back gate to give us time to get in there first…he walked in and we all yelled surprise!! It was a fun night…great food and music …..and lots of laughter, dancing and smiles!! Yes…this was a fun day!ll
