Day 4…Team #2… Birthday party and shopping uncontrollably!

So…today was the day I knew I needed to take a couple of people with me and buy food for Copprome, and Olivos,  pay the electric bill for Copprome , pick up some school books for some of the private school kids and make sure we had everything for the birthday celebration and dinner at Copprome tonight!!  Sometimes these ‘running around’ days are more tiring to me than working at the site!  We spent 5 hours in the hot bus….going to 6 different places to get everything bought and taken care of…. Am I complaining…. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!  The joy we get to feel when we give out the food bags and when we sing happy birthday is more than enough to say it is ALL WORTH IT!!!!                       Sweet Tino, the leader of the Olivos Village…. standing up after the whole village received food staples to hopefully last 2 weeks…..as he thanked God for us with tears in his eyes….such a sweet humble man that God has put in our path….He is an honor to serve….and to work along beside….he has no idea what kind of influence he is having on all of the young men we brought with us this week….He leads his community with a humble yet strong vigor that can only be understood when witnessed….He is an amazing example….and he HAS NO IDEA the implact he is making……         Then off to have dinner at Copprome and celebrate 5 July birthdays!!!     Most of these precious kids never have celebrated their birthdays…so they don’t have any idea when their birthday even is…..As we get out of the vans with birthday presents and bags of stuff for the party…..I have lots of sweet faces looking up at me asking me cumpleanos? Is it my birthday?  I have to look at most of them and say no….yours is not this month! They just smile now and keep playing because they know I will celebrate theirs when the time comes!!!  Sweet kids….with lots of love to give….that  is what Copprome is all about….the kids are clean, healthy and full of joy because of the sponsor families that keep making sure they are taken care of….Shelton did our devo   tonight and said we should never just go to Church and wait to go to heaven…..we are supposed to prepare for our Savior to return…by bringing Heaven to earth…I felt some of that today as Tino was speaking and as the Copprome kids were enjoying their party…..Heaven on earth…joy overflowing…serving brings out the best in all of us…….
