Day 3 Team #2. . Dr Ty strikes again!

Day 3 Team #2. . Dr Ty strikes again!

It is very humbling to see the confidence the Olivos people place in us…The things we see and do while we are here…are only possible because it is God who gives us strength and wisdom…I am rewinding to an event from yesterday….         So we started our day as usual with breakfast and off to Olivos….when we got there yesterday …a mom came up to us and said her daughter was almost hit by a car…she dove out of the way and scratched up her elbow and hip……I mean….why in the world…would they come to a guy who 35 yrs ago would pass out in a hospital just because of the smell….It is pretty amazing to me to watch my brother, Ty, who    could not stand the hospital smells….clean a really nasty and infected wound….and not even think twice…We are a team…he and I….I know we never expected it..and I am positive our mom never imagined it…but as he saw the situation….I heard him call my name….and I was ready to do whatever was needed to help this sweet child who was hurt trying to survive….as Ty worked on her wound…with me handing him the medicines and rubbing her back and whispering words of encouragment. …I was reminded how God can work through us to take care of the least of these….he told her it would burn as we cleaned it…it did…she sat there…a 7 year old…with tears rolling down her face…but she never flenched….she knew it would make her better….as he bandaged it up…he couldn’t help but reach out and kiss her on the cheek for her bravery…. a sweet moment as she smiled and knew that it would be better soon…                                     So today….we arrived and there was a mom who  had a pinky finger that was 3 times the size it should be and infected…purply in color..and a spot with yellow stuff coming out….was it a bite?  We don’t know…..All we   knew was it was terribly infected and needed immediate attention…so Dr Ty and nurse Rhonda went to work…she was in lots of pain…we disninfected…gave her antibiotics, advil and benedryl….we are hoping tomorrow it is much better…if not…it will have to be opened up…we will see how Dr Ty does with that… Then we checked on our little girl from yesterday…her wound looked so good!! We fixed it up again and she was smiling and happy!!  We never know what we will encounter…but we know that whatever it is…there is a way to help!      We did lots of rebar tying, cement mixing and block laying today…..and then we did VBS…Marcie and Chellie did a great job singing and teaching the kids about Christ’s love!  They received lots of goodies, cookies and juice….then off to Copprome to do VBS there!  It was another successful afternoon with the kids there.  It doesn’t take long for them to become your very best friend!! They are so loving…the teenage boys played soccer again with the older kids and everyone was happy!!!     We left Copprome to  come back to the hotel to eat dinner and relax….the teenage boys and some of the girls went to the gym with Shelton to experience an MMA practice!! They were all so excited to see what that is all about…can’t wait to hear the stories tomorrow!!!
