Day 3 August Mission Team

Day 3 August Mission Team

Today was a hot one!!! Most of our crew spent the day pouring concrete floors in 2 houses! If you have never done that without a cement truck…you have never really poured concrete!! It is a tough job that requires a team to work together mixing concrete..shoveling it into buckets….passing buckets down the line …assembly line style….pouring it into the fittings…and then passing the empty buckets back to do it all over again! It is a fun group job that includes lots of laughter and encouragement from each other….   I was not able to participate in the concrete bucket brigades today…..and believe me, I really do love them…the teamwork is amazing and very fulfilling…..but Copprome cupboards were bare….they desperately needed food…so 3 of us headed to market to buy food!! We bought 200lbs of beans, 300 lbs of meat, 100 lbs of flour, 100 lbs of corn meal, 100 lbs of laundry detergent, 80 bars of soup, 100 diapers,  40 lbs of powdered milk, 8 huge boxes of cereal(I love getting the kids Frosted Flakes a nd Froot Loops!) , 3 gallons of ice cream and lots of other goodies!! It is funny how going to grocery shop at home is boring….here is fills me with joy!  Even though, it takes all day to shop…the rewards are great when you pull up to Copprome with a van full of groceries and all the kids come around the van and start chanting you name….yes they know the food will be plentiful for the next month….then…when I return September 20th…I will do it all again! This is what the family sponsorship money pays for…..groceries and necessities!!!      I am really excited about what else we bought today!!! We bought lots of food for the Olivos families!!! We usually have enough money to do a small food drive for each family….well…..this time….we had enough left over from our Olivos supply budget to buy each family 50 lbs of beans, 50 lbs of rice and 8 lbs of corn meal…..this should be enough rice and beans for 1 month!!! I was overjoyed when I realized this could be possible!!! We will give it all out tomorrow…I can’t wait to see the relief in the eyes of the families as they realize they will not have to be concerned about whether they will have enough to eat this next month….God is good and He has brought together some amazing people to travel and donate to support Hearts2 Honduras and 147 Million Orphans so we can provide these sweet families with food for a month……They can enjoy building their homes and be nourished as they do it!  It is an amazing thing to watch these families become bold and feel cherished….It was a good day….no….it was a great day!
