13 Jul Day 1 Mission Team #2
Today began at the crack of dawn..meeting at the Nashville airport at 4:30am! We were all there and so ready to go! We were alarmed with a 40 minute delay from air traffic control in Atlanta…making us a little concerned about our connecting flight in Atlanta..but we made it and even had time to visit the banyos before we took off! We arrived in El Progreso..boarded our buses and headed to the hotel to unpack before we went to lunch and then to Copprome to begin loving on the kids!! The mission group from last week sent gifts for all of the kids…Copprome received 7 more angels this week…so we stopped by the mall to get some more gifts so everyone would have a bag to open! The joy on all of their little faces as they opened their bags of toys and goodies was priceless! Doris made an amazing dinner for us of chicken fried rice and we began our week of building relationships…I heard lots of chatter from this team about putting kids in their suitcases to bring home!! This will be such a sweet week…to watch as the new relationships grow though hugs, kisses, hard work and willing hearts!! Tomorrow…let the work begin!!
