09 Jun Working…shopping…and a party!
Our last work day today was a scorcher! It was really hot with almost no breeze at all! Muggy…I took a couple of team members (Kim and Tonia) with me this morning to shop for food for the orphanage….It is a cool (haha!) experience…we took the Copprome bus…Rueben drove us and we headed down town to get the best deals possible! We bought 400 lbs of beans. . .100 lbs of flour…200 lbs of corn flour….diapers and lotion…milk… 42 pair of flip flops…100 pair of socks….. and party supplies! The rest of the team started laying block on house number 6 and dug the footings for house number 7!! Wow…it is amazing what a team can do in a few hours!! We then came back to the hotel and showered and rested before heading to dinner…… I must share with you that all week I have had Gaby with me (when she is not in school), but I have missed my sweet Gabriel…I knew he couldn’t stay with me during the week because his school is further from the hotel and he has a harder time doing his homework and focusing…but within 10 minutes of us returning to the hotel….I hear a knock on my door and a sweet voice saying mom..I am here…I love having both of them in the hotel room with me…it makes my time in Honduras even better…I love them both so much!!!.So dinner was at Power Chicken….our favorite seafood place! Why is it called Power Chicken? No idea…their grilled chicken is amazing too….but their fried shrimp and calamari is as good as any you will find! Then off to Copprome for our June Birthday Party! I love this time with the kids so much….They get such a kick out of celebrating their birthdays…before we started this tradition 1.5 years ago…they did not celebrate their birthdays…a lot of them did not even know their birthdate…now they each nget a small present…..ice cream and cookies….and everyone singing to them….Tonight they even performed a couple of dances for us after! Tomorrow we will have a fiesta at Olivos in the morning with pinata’s and then head to Copprome to have our final VBS….then take all the kids swimming and to play soccer! Then we have a special last night’s dinner planned! This has been a great team…with great hearts…a perfect way to start our mission trip season!!!
