20 Jan His face does not look like a thief!
Rather than talk about how sad I am that it is my last day…though it is true….I am just going to share with you stories about today….we went to Lola’s this morning and borrowed her mom’s car…Shelton was going to drive for the first time here in honduras….driving here is VERY different than at home….there are very few driving laws and signs and even those are ignored most of the time….the cars share the streets with motorcycles. ..bicycles. …pedestrians and yes sometimes even horse and buggies…I am not sure if anyone really has the right of way…just everyone fighting to be first….cars pass on the right AND the left so you never know if turning onto a street is even clear…..when we were downtown…he admitted he was a little nervous…but once we got outside of town he felt pretty good…oh…and to make matters even more difficult…the car is a stick shift…..so it proved to be an interesting experience…. We bought the rest of the groceries Copprome needed and went through the school supply list to make sure the kids would have EVERYTHING they needed to start school in 2 weeks….Shelton met with Tino to make sure he had all the supplies ready to order for the next two houses and we headed to the mall for dinner…Applebee’s was calling my name!. We had a great dinner….lots of great food and laughter…then out to the parking lot…we followed Shelton to the car….as he put the key into the lock…a woman opened the door and got out…Shelton almost wet his pants….he almost had a heart attack…..it all happened so fast all I heard was Shelton saying ‘What just happened?’ Lola, Gaby, Gabriel and I started laughing so hard we were crying….Lola said to the lady…(in spanish…so we weren’t sure what she was saying until later)…she told her we are so sorry…I hope we did not scare you! She said he does not have the face of a thief so I was not scared….and then she started laughing!! We laughed for 30 minutes while Shelton just had a look of shock on his face…I haven’t seen him laugh about it yet… it was truly one of the funniest things I have seen happen here…we could not even finish a sentence we were so tickled!! Then we went to Copprome to take Shelton’s stuff to the room he will be staying in… Gaby is sad to be moving back to the orphanage….but so happy her American brother will be staying with her for a couple of weeks!!! Blessings to all as I leave this sweet place tomorrow….I leave my heart here each time….and will pick it back up when I return…April..
