01 Jul 2013 Mission Team #3 Day 5
We have had a fantastic weekend!! Yesterday we worked half a day and took the Copprome kids swimming in the afternoon! They were all excited and enjoyed it so much…then we came back to the hotel and ate dinner and talked a little more about the Holy Spirit and how He had been at work this week in Honduras…
Today we had church at Olivos…Tino talked a bit…the kids suprised us by singing a song in English…Gabriel sang a beautiful new song he had learned about a new life in Christ….and then Raul, Shelton’s sweet friend shared his testimony…..
Wow!…let me just tell you…it was powerful…he had a rough upbringing..though he was taught about God, he never really felt His presence… through his father’s death at age 12 and his mother moving to the US…he had to raise his siblings on his own..and he spent lots of years angry with God about the way he was living….he is the light weight MMA champion of Honduras and that is how he took out his aggression…
a month ago, when we were here with our last group…he rededicated his life to Christ (thank you team member Brad for spending time mentoring him!)…wow….what a change he has made…and he feels like a new man…he shared how fantastic it feels to have God living in him again and how he loves serving with us….he teared up as he shared how special our groups are and that this is where he feels closest to Jesus…..when he is working with us at Olivos and Copprome Orphanage…He is a special person and I am sure Shelton had no idea when he became friends with Raul how God would bless them both…it has been so cool to watch and we are all excited to hear what is next!
We then had lunch at a fabulous buffet and then took the Copprome kids to the movie…Monster University…in spanish…so much fun…then we let them ride a ride at the mall…the were giddy with excitement as they twirled around on the ferris wheel high up in the air…
We then had dinner at the mall….
yes….this was a sweet..sweet day!!
