The challenge…The response…thank you all!!

In 21 days..I will be back in El Progreso loving and kissing on all the kids at Copprome along with my son, Shelton which makes it all even sweeter.  Why is it that just thinking about it brings me joy?

 I want to share with all of you what has happened in the past 2 weeks since we launched the “50cents a day challenge” to raise money for food for the orphanage, Copprome.  Their biggest challenge is feeding the kids and Sister Teresita just told me Friday we are getting 7 more kids in the next 2 weeks.  (my spirit says..bring it on..we will feed them too!) So making sure the kids have healthy meals, water and vitamins is the biggest concern.  Since we have launched the “challenge” I have heard several sweet stories about how children and adults are enjoying “filling their jars”….I am constantly in prayer about money needed to buy food for the kids and at the same time…God is at work….in people’s hearts….. encouraging them to give.  I am constantly amazed…..not surprised…I know God is capable of bringing in more than enough money for Copprome…but amazed at the people around me and the people I haven’t even met yet who are participating in this challenge! 

I want to share several of these stories so you can be blessed by all of the goodness too! 

A sweet little 6 year old who emptied his piggy bank into their family’s “50cents a day challenge” jar…and when his mom gave him a dollar from her wallet and said this is for you to spend on yourself!  He proceeded to put it in the jar too! 

A precious college student who sent me a sweet message of how excited she is that she has already collected over $5.00 from change just lying around…and is continuing to add to it….

A sweet middle schooler who told me he started the jar and is encouraging his friends to do it too….

A sweet parent who has a program at work which matches her donations and has contributed enough in 2010 to take care of a month’s worth of meals….she donated it to feed the kids at Copprome…

 I pray and all around me God is at work!!…it is happening!!..my angels (I know they are really God’s…but I call them mine!) at Copprome will benefit from all that you are doing!!

My sweet family of whom several have committed to make monthly donations to feed one child every month ($42/month)….they admitted that putting change in a jar just wouldn’t work for them!! Haha!!

Change in a jar is just one way to help…. I am finding that it is working for families with small children who are enjoying watching the change grow!!

My son’s sweet church family in Whiteville, TN  have a huge jar and have asked the congregation to bring their change in weekly and drop it in their jar….

We have so much and they need so little!! Won’t you commit to something…saving your change daily……a monthly donation…anything will help…Remember just 50 cents feeds one child one meal!! $5.00 a month gives the orphanage 10 meals!!!
