25 Mar Sunday…fun day…sweet day.
wow. . what a great day of laughing. . loving. . . and enjoying life with with the people of Olivos and the Copprome kids!
We started our day at Olivos at 9 with worship and a precious lesson taught by Tino! We began with the kids singing Jesus Loves Me and Yo Tengo Gozo. . then sent them off to VBS and an Easter egg hunt! After Tino’s lesson on prayer in your house and how thankful they are when our groups are in Honduras, my sweet Gabriel got up to sing. . He told us to all join hands in a circle and he sang the Lords Prayer to the tune of The Sound of Silence. . we were all teary when he finished singing this in such an emotional way that you could tell the Holy Spirit was there. . Every time I hear him sing, I am amazed by his angelic sound. . . and by the fact that he has been given to our family. . a sweet sweet gift. .
Then we went to lunch at a buffet that was great food and a beach band performing to begin the holiday week before Easter. . which the Hondurans refer to as Holy Week. . schools are closed for Holy week. . and they don’t call it spring break. . businesses shut down. . people head to the beach or to their families homes to celebrate Jesus and the fact that He arose! Easter is the most important holiday to them. . . like Christmas is to us. . . . they don’t question prayer in schools or Christmas parties vs Holiday parties. . they do not tiptoe around the fact that they are celebrating Jesus. . .and I love it!
Then we took the Copprome kids to swim at a nice pool. . it was a perfect day for it. . .since it was 104 degrees! The kids swam. . played futball and thanked us all as we gave them juice and cookies on their way back to the orphanage. . it was a fun filled. . hugging. . laughing kind of day!
We came back to the hotel for pizza and a devo. . Ty is teaching this week about the book of Ruth. . being a foreigner in a strange land. . oh how appropriate. . and then we talked Gabriel into singing the Lord’s Prayer again. . what a sweet ending to a sweet day. .
