03 Jun Sunday…Amazing…
We began the day with church at Olivos. The service started with some songs by the children…then a few by our music leader in the community…and then Gabriel sang a beautiful song…he introduced the title of it as something about a girl…Ty and I made eye contact with both of us having those faces of uncertainty….but as he began to sing (like an angel)…the congregation started to sing along and we could tell he was not off track…it was a song about Jesus calling him by name and knowing who he was from birth…pretty powerful coming from an orphan who was abandoned on the side of the road and picked up at 7 months…it is so exciting to see him start to undertand the power of God and the Holy Spirit in his life….
Then Ty and Tino did a baby dedication for Johanna and Baby Rhonda…it was precious…he challenged the parents and the entire community to work together to raise the girls in a safe and healthy environment where God is honored and cherished…it was a sweet service…we ended by taking communion together…it was the first time Gabriel had ever taken communion..Shelton and I spent lots of time explaining the why’s and how’s of it to him…
After church a few ladies in the community brought out their homemade goodies for us to shop and then we had a great lunch together…it ended with snow cones!!
We took the Copprome kids swimming in the afternoon and then enjoyed an amazing dinner at Copprome cooked by Lola and June (one of our team members from OK!) We finished topped off our Indian Tacos with a birthday party for 8 kids born in May!! Ice cream and cookies were had by all…it was a great day…lots of fun activities and laughter… just the way we like it! As we left the orphanage around 8pm..it began to storm and rain…as I sit typing in my hotel room, I can hear the thunder and rain pounding down…
We should all sleep well tonight…tomorrow might be interesting if this weather keeps up!! Noche Noche!
