08 Jun Needs are large…love is abundant…amazing things are happening!
Our work day began with another cement line! We were all well rested and ready to jump in and help..everyone knew what to do…and were willing to do it! When we got to Olivos even the women in the village were shoveling and working….the really cool thing about what we do is that we work ALONG WITH the villagers….so we form relationships with them as we work and the smiles and laughter is an international language of love and respect! Everyone is becoming very comfortable with each other and understanding each other’s strengths and weakneses….we jump in when someone looks too hot or too tired…the rhythm we have established is pretty sweet! Some other cool things are happening too! We have one man in the village who needs hernia surgery…but he wants to wait until his house is finished…we told him we would pay for that…It is only $70….another man we think has a broken rib…he was shoveling this morning and we told him NO…you stand back and let us do your work…the look on his face was precious seeing that we American women were willing to take his place…..that was shocking to him!! ……these sweet people are really learning how to live a life of sustenance….we pray that we can impact them the way Jesus intends us to do…
Then off to the hotel for a shower and to Copprome to do our VBS there…the kids were so excited when we drove up!!! We sang Yo Tengo and shared the skit and story of The Good Samaritan….teaching them that we need to be sweet and kind to one another….the skit was a hit…Shelton was the injured man and he lay there moaning and groaning…the kids loved it! Then we painted the girls fingernails and played soccer with the boys…It was a great day!!!
