30 Jul It is amazing the things we celebrate while in Honduras!
Started the day with a great breakfast and plans to finish several of our tasks today!! Yes….we had lots to celebrate today…We finished ALL of the peach painting…which was the entire orphanage all the way around the back…if you haven’t been there…you don’t realize how much wall that really is….not to mention the crazy juts in the roof that needed to match!! So we had a group who built (?) a scaffolding so the tallest could trim around the top…right under the roof…then a couple of us climbed on the roof to paint the crazy walls that just stick up throught the tin roof….it is a circular building….so the roofline is unusual ….We also had a group finishing the woodwork aroun the doors and windows and another group reworking the chicken house….and finally a group finishing the water filtration lines! By 2:00…we were celebrating purified well water….no more money spent every week buying water!!! WOOHOO!!!…also celebrating being done painting peach….and also celebrating the woodwork finished!!!! But the funniest things that were celebrated today was that we had metal spoons to spread the peanut butter…and that just the breeze from someone breathing helped it feel just a little cooler up on the roof!! We then headed to the hotel to shower and get ready for VBS and dinner! Several of the Team #3 families brought bags of children’s clothes and we brought lots of new shoes for the kids….so during VBS we gave out shoes and clothes to the kids…they were all so excited to “shop” and get new things to wear…It was amazing how many of them came out of the office with several new outfits!! The smiles on their faces as they put on some of their new clothes was precious!! I saw tears in some eyes as the moms remembered their kids in these clothes….and now seeing the Copprome angels enjoying them second hand was very rewarding!! Then off to dinner at a new place that was supposed to be excellent food and be ready to serve 38 starving people…..well….we were there…hungry….but they ran out of food…yep….it was the first and last time we will trust a reservation there!! haha!! So half of the team got dinner….the other half of us went to the mall and ate there….oh well…at least we had a hot meal….even if it was a little frustrating!! One of our younger team members made a comment on the bus saying she was “starving”…her mom said …no..you are not starving …just a little hungry…yes being here allows you to understand the word starving a little better…none of us are ever starving…just a little hungry…we are blessed that we really don’t know what starving feels like….Celebrate that!!!!
