20 Feb Honduras. . sharing our hearts this Valentines week. .
I am literally sitting on the sofa at the mission house. . Keice is giving me one of the best pedicures I have ever experienced! Keice is one of the Copprome kids. . now 20. . she is living at the mission house transitioning to adulthood. . . so far. . this new project is working well. . We spent some time this morning sharing with her the importance of first impressions and interviewing. . our pastor Jay from Franklin is here with us and did an amazing job explaining honesty and trust in initial interviews. . (we had no idea he used to be a college recruiter and he had some great words of wisdom) Shelton and Jay role played. . Keice thought they were crazy.. . . but all in all I believe she learned some valuable things. .
We are also transitioning 19 year old Gaby. . she is very independent and will start college in May. . We registered her yesterday and she is beyond excited! She will also be teaching English to the 8-12 year olds at Copprome every week in order to make some money for her share of utilities at the mission house. . rent is covered through donations to our ministry. . but they have to share utilities and buy their own food. . It is really cool watching them giggle and laugh as they learn how to do life together. .
Gabriel is the only High Schooler in the mission house. . he is studying accounting at a private school in town. . learning the importance of good grades has taken awhile. . but he seems to be figuring it out. . it is fun to watch my 24 year old son disciplining him. . his words sound a lot like what came out of my mouth 8 years ago!
We have spent the last 2 days buying food for Copprome and buying education supplies for the Olivos kids. .
Olivos is thriving and extremely proud of their school and the way their village is progressing. .
One of this trips goals was to have Pastor Jay come and meet with Tino about strengthening the spiritual awareness and lives of the Olivos village. . he and Shelton have spent lots of time studying the Bible with him. . it is so sweet and humbling to see how excited Tino is about digging in the Word! Their first session lasted half a day because Tino did not want to quit! He is planning to speak the message this Sunday in Olivos as we meet to praise and worship God our provider! They really have first hand experience with this!
Crystal came with us this trip and organized a clothing drive in her community. . she brought clothes for all the kids at Olivos. . tomorrow we distribute them! This is her second trip and she is so excited about being here. . and the people of Olivos and kids at Copprome LOVE her!
We have accomplished a lot these past 2 days! This is a small team. . but one that has love overflowing for the people in Honduras. . It is a pleasure to serve alongside them!
