02 Jun Saturday was full of love and laughter!!
Saturday began with a food and clothing distribution at Olivos. . several of our team members (including lots of donations from friends at home) brought clothes in all sizes to give away. . each family got a case of food and a whole frozen chicken.. . and each family member got a pair of flip flops and at least one article of clothing. . . it is always sweet to see their humble smiling faces when they receive these gifts. .
We then finished pouring footings on house #20 and layed block and tied rebar for both houses. Then back to the hotel for a little rest and cooling off time (it was over 100 degrees today. . very hot!) then off to Copprome with gifts of bubbles and sidewalk chalk for all of the kids. . there was lots of snuggling and laughter this visit as everyone is forming bonds and making lasting relationships with the kids. . as soon as we pull up the kids are running to “their new amigos” with arms open wide to receive the main thing missing in their sweet lives. . . relationships with people who love them. . .
When we bring a mission team, our drive inside the gates of Copprome Orphanage and Olivos always begin and go something like this: day 1 and 2. . they chant. . Ty, Rhonda, Shelton or Lola. . day 3-7 they are just screaming and squeeling with delight because 25-30 people who they have bonded with are returning with open arms to hug. . kiss. . play. . and love on them! It is so much fun to see the excitement as the van doors open. . it is a race to see if we get out of the van before they can jump in it to hug us!
