08 Oct Who needs a bathing suit anyway?
So our day begin with 4 Copprome kids coming to the hotel to swim with us…or at least that is what the plan was…All of the kids who were not in school were to be dropped off at the hotel at 10 and we would swim with them for an hour or so..this was 3 year old Joseph and Luisito…5 year old Dyana and 17 year old Raina…So we meet them outside and they are all in their regular clothes…we were a little confused…but…oh well we would make the most of it…so Shelton and I had on our suits and jumped into the pool and started encouraging them to join us…at first they said no..I mean…they were not prepared…but as the minutes went by…one at a time they decided to get in…We aren’t sure where the communication was missed…but we ended up with the boys in their underwear and the girls just swimming in their clothes!! They had a blast….and that is all that mattered…I think it was even more fun for them because of the spontaneity of it!!! So after 2 hours of swimming….jumping and diving for shirts and shoes…we decided to take them up to our room and get them snacks….again…communication was a little off…we thought the bus was picking them back up at 11:30….but at 12:30 there was no call and no sign of the bus… well….I sure wasn’t complaining…anytime I get to spend with the kids away from the orphanage is a blessing…..so we went to our room…stripped off their wet clothes and put them in t-shirt of ours…they were so stinkin cute!!!! We then took their wet clothes down to the lobby and asked if they would dry them at the hotel….we layed around and watched TV (Joseph passed out) until their clothes dryed…..then we decided to take them to the mall for lunch and to ride rides……I mean…if Copprome wasn’t worried about how long they were away…I was keeping them!!!! haha….It was such a cool feeling to know that they trusted me enough to let me just enjoy the day and not be rushed….knowing I would keep them safe….and knowing I would enjoy EVERY moment…. So off to the mall…we ate chicken nuggets…french fries…and pizza….then rode all the rides there! The kids were all smiles!! What a precious day with a precious group of kids…it is so much fun to experience firsts with people….especially kids! There is nothing to compare to the excitement on their faces as they eat…play…and ride the rides….I don’t think any of us would trade today with anyone else!!! Then Lola said you and I need to go and talk to the manager of the mall about the circus on Sunday….I said oh yeah…maybe we can get half price tickets….she said no…I am going to ask for free tickets…..I said OK…let’s go….so while Shelton and Blake took the kids to play, Lola and I went to make some new friends in management!!…..Lola worked her magic getting us in the managers office….I wish I could tell you what she said….but she was talking so fast and I was just grinning and nodding (I really do that well!)….next thing I know we were sitting across from the manager…Lola introduced me and began her fast talking again…next thing I know Jorge, the manager shook my hand and said yes…I think we can do that…he also said next time I am in town and want to do something special for the kids to let him know…maybe a movie or something….yes…we are beginning to make some great connections here that will hopefully give the Copprome kids a little more pleasure!! We then went and took the little ones back to Copprome…picked up Gaby(which always makes my day a little brighter!) and went to buy underwear for all of the kids…this was one of the items on the new list ….Lola knows just where to go and just how to get the best discounts…..It never ceases to amaze me how we can have a counter FULL of items and the cost is always less than I have figured! Now off to the hotel to drop off all of the purchases meet up with Henry and then to Power Chicken to meet Doris and her 2 boys and Maria and her 3 kids! This is the first time I have gotten to meet either of these 2 precious ladies families….I have heard them talk about their kids so often as I spend time with them in the offices of Copprome and I was finally getting to meet them! And…just as I had imagined…their kids were precious..Doris has two boys 6 and 12 and Maria has 3 kids…a son in college…a daughter in high school and a younger son in middle school…it was precious to see them with their kids…so sweet and the kids hugging on their moms like they adored them…..no wonder they are such a blessing to Copprome ….you can see they way the love their own kids and it just shines through them as they love on the kids at Copprome too! It was a great day….lots of firsts…and lots of new connections…God is good..He had it all planned…glad I was here for the ride!!
