02 Jul day 4. Power Chicken the
So this day began as all others with a fantastic breakfast and then off to Copprome! We continued painting the walls peach and the guys put up chicken wire at the chicken house!! (pollo casa) We are really getting the hang of working together and knowing who likes to roll and who likes to edge! We finished the homework room today and it looks incredible! Also the courtyard area around the homework room….We were blessed this afternoon with clouds and some sprinkles…It felt so fantastic!! We met a new creature this morning…a tarantula! Now don’t go freaking out…It was just crawling around on the ground..it didn’t hurt anyone…I’m not gonna lie..it was creepy! Rats and tarantulas …….not the kind of things you find in your back yard at home…but neither seemed to startle the Copprome kids! VBS went great today…the little ones watched Lyle the Friendly Viking Veggie Tales, sang Jesus Loves Me in spanish and memorized their Bible verse…..the kids also played with flyswatters (with diamond shapes cut out of them) dipped in dish soap and water…they were so excited waving their wands around and the bubbles flowing behind them! It was so precious! But nothing compares to what we heard coming out of the showers a few minutes later….they were reciting the Bible verse while they were bathing! Yes, they were really listening!! The older kids discussed what Jesus did for them and the importance of forgiveness……no sin is aloud into heaven…so we have to have a relationship with Christ…be forgiven….then we can all be in Heaven together!! They were reminded that every day they have a choice to make whether to live for God or not….the blessings are there…but you have to have Jesus in your heart to receive them! It was a great message and lots of input from the Copprome teens and from the RCC group! Everyone just keeps getting more confident with each other and able to share their hearts….yes…this group is awesome! Speaking of awesome……Power Chicken…I am not talking about the few chickens running around the orphanage….I am talking about a restaurant in downtown El Progreso that is delicious!!!!! I am talking shrimp, calamari, grilled chicken, steak and delicious sides… You have to come here to experience it! We ended the night with a sweet discussion about the blessings we are receiving from these precious people…..And we talked about the things we want to make sure we say before we leave Honduras…It is so important that we take the time to say things to each other that we feel…We never know if will we have an opportunity again…. Blessings to you all…go out and serve someone tomorrow!!.
