day 5. . A few ropes is all we need!

day 5. . A few ropes is all we need!

So we began the day with pancakes, bacon and eggs! Believe me…we were gonna need it! Our plan was for part of us to finish up the painting at Copprome and those that were really wanting some intense physical labor…go and help Mt Olivos finish installing the 1000 gallon tank for the new well!   So off we all go…we have had 2 buses…until 10:00 this morning…1 bus needs a new part for the brakes…so we are down to 1 bus…for Americans, this just doesn’t work well…we want to go NOW…no waiting…and certainly no time for just sitting around and doing nothing!  Well….with one bus…the day’s schedule changed by about 2 hours…our plan became confused…but Shelton, Marshall, Jeremy, James and Lauren were focused on their task at Mt Olivos…we must get running water today to these homes!! All we need are 4 ropes and we can get this 1000 gallon tank on top of the stilts so that gravity will allow the water to flow…Shelton’s comment was..we cannot let a broken down bus get in the way of running water to 200 people…..So what happened?                                                                                 They did it…though there was lots of waiting on a bus…they were able to run to the hardware store.. buy the ropes and help them install it all!  If you have not looked at the pics on my facebook.. you must…it is a beautiful sight to see this huge water tank in this village that is just beginning to take some shape!                                                                                                      We were all able to go out there this afternoon and do a quick VBS (we were 2 hours late getting there due to our transportation issues…) but the timing , of course was perfect…they were able to finish their work and be a part of the VBS. We did a skit about Daniel and the Lion’s den and gave them glow in the dark stars to put on their ceilings….They have no electricity…so we told them everytime they see the stars to remember how much God loves them and will protect them just like He did Daniel!  We then gave them toothbrushes and toothpaste that the Alexanders brought…we had enough for the kids and the adults too!  Lola, our interpreter did a quick lesson on the correct way to brush your teeth and they were all grinning from ear to ear!!                                                      We ended the day by taking some of the Copprome boys to the mall for dinner and  a shopping spree.  They all came back with some new clothes and were so proud of everything they had!  Some of them would just smell the newness in the clothes…like we would chocolate or fresh baked cookies…You see, most of the time…they wear hand me downs and are proud to have them…but there is something so sweet about taking them into a store and allowing them to pick out what they like!  It was a sweet day…a little longer than planned…but VERY sweet and rewarding! Tomorrow…we are taking all of the Copprome kids swimming!!! This will be an interesting day!!
