31 Jul food bags for all!!
Today we spent the morning tidying up the jobs at Copprome and Lisa and I went to buy lots of food for the Mt Olivos families and the families of the employees of Copprome…The people here make so little money…but they are so full of love…not only for the kids….but for us when we come… we enjoy giving them a little something from us!! Today we bought sugar, flour, salt, beans, rice, and pasta!! Our team spent an hour after lunch organizing and sorting food to give out at the Mt Olivos VBS….We were supposed to leave about 2 and do VBS at 2:30…It was pouring down rain…so we put if off about an hour…. as the rain slowly came down we headed to Mt Olivos to talk about the Good Samaritan and to share Jesus with them!! They were all so happy we were there…You should have heard them singing Christo me llamo and Yo Tengo Gozo!! They were so ready for VBS and even the adults were doing the hand motions!! It was such a joyous time….then we handed out goody bags for the kids and the food bags for each family…..The smiles on their faces as they came up to get their food was so sweet…I am sure just knowing their families would be fed for 5 or 6 days without stressing about not only how to get to a store…but how to find money to buy food for the family too!!! It was a sweet time there with the people at Mt livos….I felt sad hugging them and telling them I would see them in October! Then off to shower and get ready for dinner! We were taking 8 of the Copprome kids to the mall for dinner and dessert! It is such a precious time being able to take the kids one on one away from the orphanage and just spend time with them! Everyone on the team has an opportunity to take one of the kids with them and just hang out with them for the evening…There is just something sweet about the excitement you see in the kids faces as they choose what they want to eat and feel the freedom and love of being with a real family for the night….it is breathtaking….you can’t even put into words how it feels to bring that much joy to a childs life..something as simple as walking around a food court eating WHATEVER you want??? Oh…the things. we take for granted…we are blessed…then why does it feel so darn good to share these blessings? Maybe because we don’t really think they are blessings…maybe they are just ordinary times for us…let’s remember…our ordinary may be freedom and blessings for others…wow…it is the simple things in life that bring the most joy…let us not overlook these simple pleasures….
