07 Oct The bus is full!
So…we finally made it at midnight last night (Wednesday) to San Pedro Sula! Nando was at the airport to pick us up even though our flight was 30 minutes early!! WOW…imagine that! He came American time NOT Honduras time!!! We checked in Casa Blanca and slept…after a long day of travel..layovers and fun! We kept saying…as we were lying out on the beach… I’m not complaining about this 11 hour layover….I must admit..we wanted to get to Honduras much worse than we wanted to be at the beach….but the price was totally right for this 11 hour layover…so we made the most of it!! NOW…on to TODAY!!! We awoke to a sweet phone call from Sister Teresita saying I only have a little time to visit with you! She was flying out to New Jersey and Connecticut to do some fundraising for Copprome..she is speaking in some large Catholic Churches there!!! So we hugged …smiled…and talked for about 30 minutes until she had to leave..sweetest woman I know!! Then Blake, Shelton and I went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast…after 3 cups of Honduran coffee….I was ready to rock and roll!!! Lola called and was on her way to help us accomplish everything!! She is a go getter and a blessing to serve with!! She was introduced to us in May as an interpreter…but she is so much more to us than that!! She knows so many people in this town…knows where to shop with the best prices…and even makes sure we get a discount since we are shopping for Copprome Orphanage!!! So off we went to Copprome to love on the few kids that were there (not in school) and then Rueben was driving the bus for us to shop!! We met with sweet Marina (who works in the office and was an orphan at Copprome herself….she is now married with a 1.5 year old son and is a sweet and humble person!) I told her to make a list of the needs and we would fill all that we could! Everytime I come it seems the list gets longer…but that is ok…because everytime I come…the donations are larger…thanks to all of you who are reading this right now!!! So off we go on the bus….in the 90 degree heat to shop!!! Oh yeah…500 lbs of beans…lots of flour, oil, milk, cereal, shampoo, etc. later the bus was FULL of bags!! It is so cool to go downtown El Progreso and see the merchants that we have come to know…they are so thrilled that we are back…..and that we are buying for Copprome…they never cease to amaze me by giving us free bags of candies and great discounts!! As we left our 5th and final store….(there is no one stop shopping here!)…..The bus was full of bags and goodies!!..We were exhausted and fulfilled!!! Back to the orphanage to unload…there were only 2 things on the list we still needed to buy…underwear for all the kids and bars of soap!!! We decided to put those off until tomorrow!. As we entered the gates to the orphanage…we could hear the kids shouting all of our names…so excited we were here!! There is now a new list for tomorrow….and one of the things we wil do………………………….. .There is a circus in town….Oh yeah with lions, clowns and tents…we are going there tomorrow to beg them to give us a discount so we can take all the kids on Sunday…I am a little concerned about my son (Shelton, 23yrs old..scared of clowns.. haha) I am praying they will give us a break so we can afford to bless these kids by taking them to the circus…..JUST IMAGINE…38 kids who have never been to a circus…sitting there…smiling…. laughing and watching….It doesn’t get much better than that!! I remember taking my kids when they were very young to the circus…never thinking a thing about it…they loved it…and I knew they could experience it every year if they wanted to….but these kids from age 3 to 19…never have been…..how cool….to be with them…..to see their precious faces as they laugh at the clowns and get scared from the roar of the lions…yes… pray a softness in the circus manager’s heart…that he/she will give us a break!!! Cool stuff if happening here….But there is nothing cool about the weather…WOW…I always forget how hot it is….but it is worth every drop of sweat……Yes…the bus was full..and so are our hearts this night!!!
